11th Anniversary of Social-Democratic Union of Youth of St.Petersberg
On April 22 Social Democratic Union of Youth of Saint-Petersburg celebrates its 11th birthday. It was created in April 2000 by the young activists sharing the ideas of Freedom, Justice and Solidarity.
SDUY SPb was recognized as a youth brunch of the Social Democratic party in Saint-Petersburg and after establishment of the RSDUY – it became its’ full-fledged regional brunch in the northern capital.
At the Constituent Conference was attended by Mikhail Gorbachev (Chairman of the RUSDP at that time) and Natalia Platova (member of Political Committee of the RUSDP at that time and Chairman of RSDUY 2000-2004).
SDUY SPb was established by 265 people at once.
As a result a unique situation was created that allowed SDUY to achieve an independent legal status and become a regional brunch of the RSDUY.
