On July 2, Kilkenny (Ireland) during the Tom Johnson Summer School took place the ceremony of Jim Kemmy Award for Social Justice. The award went to the “Young Social-Democrats – Maladaya Hramada” from Belarus. The award was presented by Mr. Eamon Gilmore, the Leader of the Irish Labour Party and Minister for Foreign Affairs and deputy prime minister of Irish government. MSD-MH was nominated and then chosen as the winner of this award for the initiative of the EU solidarity actions with the participants in the events Square December 19, 2010 in Belarus, the MSD-MH web site reports. “We admire the courage of our friends – the young social democrats in Belarus, which is certainly deserve this award more than anyone else for their work in such difficult conditions in BelarusOur goal as the Labour Party, as well as other social democratic parties in Europe to support their aspirations for a common goal – Democracy in Belarus” – said Mr. Gilmore during the ceremony. “I would like to say that it is our common MSD-MH and Labour Party award, as solidarity actions we organized together. Solidarity, mutual help and support – is what distinguishes the social democratic organizations around the world from others. When we’re together – we are stronger!” , – said the leader of the MSD-MH Julia Mickiewicz.
